Tottenham fans are divided after Troy Parrott scores winning goal for Ireland last night

Troy Parrot has enjoyed the season of his life after leaving Tottenham Hotspur on loan last summer.

The Spurs academy product netted 17 times in 32 appearances for Excelsior last season.

While his efforts in front of goal weren’t enough to keep the Dutch outfit in the Eredivisie, his form has led to interest from top sides in the Netherlands.

The 22-year-old continued his excellent goalscoring form by coming off the bench to net a last-minute winner for Ireland against Hungary on Tuesday evening.

Troy Parrott’s form certainly leaves Tottenham with a decision to make this summer, with the striker also entering the final year of his contract.

Spurs fans have had their say on Parrott’s future and it would appear that supporters on social media are divided.

Tottenham fans react as Parrott scores yet again

Parrott’s late winner earned an impressive scalp for Ireland as they beat Hungary 2-1 at the Aviva Stadium.

The Spurs loanee raced through on goal in the 92nd minute and despite a fairly tame effort, a kind deflection off the goalkeeper helped the ball over the line.

Following his latest goalscoring heroics, some Tottenham fans have called for Ange Postecoglou to hand him a chance to impress.

One fan wrote: “Oh come on, I feel like we really can’t pass up on this opportunity to at least SEE him play in our system.”

Another added: “Terrible finish but I don’t even care give him a chance.”

“Troy the boy. Always knew he had it in him. We have to give him a chance,” said another Spurs fan.

Despite his excellent run of form, other supporters are less convinced and feel now is the right time for Tottenham to cash in.

One Spurs fan said: “His price will never be higher. Sell,” while another claimed Parrott simply isn’t ‘Tottenham level’.

The Irish media were also impressed with Parrott’s display from the bench after he came on for the final 30 minutes of last night’s friendly.

He was handed a match rating of seven and described as a real ‘live wire’ while also looking ‘sharp’ with the ball at his feet.

What Parrott has said about his Tottenham future

With Spurs set to make a decision over Parrott’s future this summer, the striker recently made his views pretty clear.

Parrott admitted just last week that he’s desperate to make it at Tottenham but is not sure what the future holds.

“I don’t know exactly what will happen. I have two more matches here and then maybe international matches, but I’m looking forward to next season,” he said.

“I’ve always wanted that [to play for Tottenham], ever since I came to the UK as a boy.”
