‘He’s up there’: £60m midfielder is one of Arsenal’s main targets alongside Benjamin Sesko – journalist

Arsenal are starting to formulate a plan for the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Gunners have long had their eyes on a number of midfield and striker targets, and now, the north London club are looking at specific top targets.

Indeed, Benjamin Sesko has been named as Arsenal’s top transfer target in an attacking sense, and speaking on KS1TV, Steve Kay has suggested that Martin Zubimendi is a top target in the midfield.

Martin Zubimendi one of Arsenal’s top targets

Kay spoke about the £60m man and Arsenal’s interest in the player.

“Yeah starting to spark up again. Don’t listen to what people are saying like The Mail and The Sun saying he said he wanted to stay. He didn’t say that, he said he was happy at Sociedad. They’ve got it completely wrong.

“We have been on this since January that he’s Arsenal’s number one main priority target. We just have to see what happens, it’s the transfer world. Agents want their money, fees have to be agreed, wages have to be agreed.

“Arsenal want him, and even if Zubimendi wants to come there are aspects that have to be sorted out. No doubt he’s up there with our main targets and hopefully we can bring him in.”

Zubimendi would be ideal

Zubimendi could be just what the doctor ordered at Arsenal.

The Spaniard is such a calm and composed player, and he would be a brilliant partner for Declan Rice if Mikel Arteta does plan to use the England international further forwards in the future.

Zubimendi is very much like a younger version of Jorginho, and that’s exactly what Arsenal need as they look to refresh and replenish their squad and kick on to become genuine Champions League contenders in years to come.

Zubimendi is a very exciting player, and he could be Arsenal-bound this summer.
