‘Best to ever do it’: Tony Bellew waxes lyrical about £30m Everton player after his latest international display

Former WBC world cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew has now hailed one Everton player following his recent display for his national side.

The curtain has now drawn on the 2023/24 campaign for Everton with Premier League football secured for another season despite their struggles.

Sean Dyche‘s side went through it over the course of the campaign with points being taken off the board for financial breaches providing a serious threat of relegation.

However, there were a number of individual performances at Goodison Park which will provide some optimism going into the new season.

And it seems Everton fan Tony Bellew has been left wowed by one of the Everton players who is currently gearing up for this summer’s Euros with his national side.

Tony Bellew seriously impressed by Everton international

A number of players from Everton will have their summer holidays pushed back by a few weeks as they jet off to represent their nations.

Jarrad Branthwaite is one of the players who will be hoping to play for the Three Lions this summer after making Gareth Southgate’s provisional side.

One man who will only be denied a spot in England’s side through injury is Jordan Pickford having established himself as England’s number one.

The £30m Everton goalkeeper started once again for the Three Lions on Monday night in the first of England’s warm-up friendlies at St. James’ Park.

And Bellew was clearly incredibly proud of his side’s goalkeeper as he took to X in the wake of the victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina to hail Pickford.

Pickford played the full 90 minutes for the Three Lions on Monday night where he was able to rack up his 29 clean sheet for England.

The Everton shot stopper is now edging closer to keeping one clean sheet in every other game for England, but the biggest test will come from next week in the Euros when England open up their tournament against Serbia.

Jordan Pickford enjoyed a quiet night in goal for England

There will certainly be more challenging nights to come for the 30-year-old goalkeeper after failing to be tested on Monday night on Tyneside.

Bellew may well have waxed lyrical about Pickford, but it is apparent Monday night’s display was not one he will remember as one of his best.

Here is a summary of Pickford’s display vs Bosnia and Herzegovina.

  • 90 minutes played
  • 1 punch
  • 0 saves
  • 25 touches
  • 81% pass accuracy
  • 1 clearance

With Gary Neville recently praising Pickford for his season with Everton, it is apparent he is a player who is going to be crucial to any relevant success which Dyche is able to provide at Goodison Park.
