West Ham make £33 million striker bid - report

West Ham United appear to be well on track to signing Samu Omorodion in the summer transfer window.

Julen Lopetegui seems to be intent on signing a striker for West Ham this summer, with the Spaniard said to be prioritising a move to strengthen his centre-forward department.

The Hammers were actually linked with a move to sign the supremely talented Atletico Madrid hitman back in April.

However, it now seems like West Ham have formalised their interest in signing the 20-year-old centre-forward.

Omorodion is a huge talent, and has been described as ‘Spain’s next top striker’, by well-known football analytical website Breaking the Lines.

He has absolutely everything needed to succeed at the very highest level, and the Hammers are apparently ready to take an extremely big punt on him…

West Ham make £33 million bid for Samu Omorodion

The young Spaniard made some serious waves whilst on loan with La Liga outfit Alaves last season.

And now he could be set for a big move to the Premier League in the summer transfer window.

According to a report from Diario AS journalist Marcos Duran, West Ham have made bid worth £33 million in total for Atletico Madrid striker Samu Omorodion, consisting of £24 million up front and £9 million in bonuses.

The highly rated 20-year-old has bagged 27 goals in 72 career games so far (Transfermarkt), although none of them have been for Atleti.

Standing at 6ft 4in tall, the Spain under-21 international is an absolute giant, and he’s strong as an ox as well.

Omorodion has everything you’d want in a young striker. He’s absolutely rapid, makes intelligent runs, possesses really impressive movement for someone so young and is a very sharp finisher.

On paper, Samu Omorodion is perfectly suited to the intense and physically robust nature of Premier League football, and he’d be a hugely exciting signing for West Ham.

However, it must be said that £33 million is an awful lot of money to spend on someone who’s totally unproven at the highest level, relatively speaking.

And considering the fact that Lopetegui is hardly flush with funds this summer, I’d be hugely surprised to see the Hammers sign Omorodion this summer.
