Report: £25m Chelsea player wants to be told by Enzo Maresca he is guaranteed game time next season

Reports have claimed that one Chelsea player is already seeking assurances from the new manager over his role next season.

The Blues have recently announced the official hiring of Enzo Maresca as their new head coach, handing him a long contract to show the belief they have in him.

He has come in to replace Mauricio Pochettino, who many were surprised was relieved of his duties after a strong end to the season on the pitch for Chelsea.

Talk has already turned to which players in the current squad are going to be moved on, and which will play key roles next season.

The goalkeeper position has already had plenty of discussion surround it, with it unclear at this point who will start between the sticks next season.

Reports stated that Maresca singled out Djordje Petrovic for praise during his interview process after he ended the season as the regular goalkeeper.

However, reports have also claimed that he is keen to work with Robert Sanchez, hinting he may have a route back into the first team.

Kepa wants assurances over minutes from Maresca

One player who is hardly getting a mention is Kepa Arrizabalaga, who recently won his second Champions League trophy while on loan at Real Madrid.

According to The Sun, the Spaniard would actually not be against staying in West London, however it would need to come with assurances from the manager he would start.

Real Madrid not keen on permanent Kepa signing

It has been frequently reported that Madrid are not keen on spending the £25m Chelsea are hoping for in order to sell him, which puts the Blues in a difficult position.

However, it does feel like his time at Stamford Bridge has come to an end, and moving on would be best for all parties.

Taking his wage into account though, another loan may be Chelsea’s best bet at moving him on.
