‘I have nothing to say’: Cesc Fabregas gives his honest thoughts on Enzo Maresca becoming new Chelsea manager

Former Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas has had his say on the Blues recent appointment of a new manager at Stamford Bridge.

Earlier this week it was confirmed that Enzo Maresca would be taking over as the new head coach after the club made the decision to relieve Mauricio Pochettino of his duties.

Some eyebrows were raised when the Argentine was dismissed after his strong end to the season, however it was a swift process to bring the Italian in.

It has already been reported that some of the few players who have briefly worked under Maresca have been saying good things about him, including star player Cole Palmer.

Fabregas unsure about Maresca appointment

There were still some eyebrows raised over the appointment. Fabregas has now said to ‘BBC’s Planet Premier League’ that it is difficult to make any judgement at this stage, although he admits he does not know what the process is right now.

He said: “My thoughts are that you never know, You can never really judge any decision before he has the time to work and prove what he’s worth. It happened with Zidane, with Guardiola.

“He will have good players. He will have a good team, a good young group of hungry, ready to go players, he will need time. He’s coached in different types of environments. We will see how it goes.”

“Talking about strategy, I have nothing to say because you’ve not been in the background so you don’t really know what they’re really looking for.”

Fabregas was spotted at Cobham during the recruitment process, however it soon emerged that he was not there to be considered for the permanent manager’s job.

Enzo Fernandez to be key next season

Everyone now is waiting until pre-season gets underway to get a taste of what life will be like under Maresca, with his playing style at Leicester City very different to how Chelsea operated last season.

One player who will likely play a big role is Enzo Fernandez, after the new boss included a plan to get the best out of him during his time at Stamford Bridge.
