Tottenham's Emerson Royal has just decided which club he wants to join this summer

Tottenham Hotspur defender Emerson Royal has decided on his preference should he leave the club this summer.

Emerson Royal is one of a host of Tottenham players who could head out the door over the coming weeks.

Spurs are reportedly willing to offload 15 players and released four on Wednesday, with Eric Dier, Japhet Tanganga, Ryan Sessegnon and Ivan Perisic all leaving upon their contracts expiring.

Royal has proven to be a useful option for Ange Postecoglou due to his ability to play anywhere across the backline. But the Brazilian isn’t exactly well-suited to Postecoglou’s demands of his full-backs and his days at Hotspur Way could be numbered.

The full-back has already received interest from Bayern Munich and AC Milan ahead of the summer transfer window, with reports claiming his agents have held talks with the latter.

Emerson Royal makes transfer decision amid Tottenham exit rumours

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has shared the latest on Royal’s future and claims the full-back is expected to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

With AC Milan continuing to show interest in the Brazilian, a switch to the San Siro is said to be his ‘priority’.

“Emerson Royal, still expected to leave Spurs and giving priority to AC Milan move,” Romano wrote.

“He wants AC Milan, while club keeps working hard also on the Joshua Zirkzee deal.”

Who could replace Emerson Royal at Tottenham?

With Royal’s departure looking more and more likely, Spurs will need to strengthen in the full-back department should he move on.

Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie are likely to remain first choice after enjoying brilliant seasons under Postecoglou.

Spurs will need options for both sides should Royal move, which would make someone like Kyle Walker-Peters an ideal target.

The Tottenham academy product is able to play both full-back roles and is no stranger to inverting after performing a similar role at Southampton last season.

The Spurs News has already been told not to rule out a move for Walker-Peters as Tottenham target a full-back in the Diogo Dalot ilk.
