Report: Sean Dyche is desperate to keep 'complete' Everton player but interest is starting to grow

Everton manager Sean Dyche is now desperate to keep one of his star players at the club this summer as interest begins to grow.

The Toffees face an interesting month ahead with a deadline of June 30 to meet the financial regulations which they previously exceeded and picked up a points deduction as a result.

With Sean Dyche potentially having to sell some of his players to balance the books at Goodison Park, Everton are now receiving interest in a number of their players.

Whatever is to happen over the coming weeks on Merseyside, the Toffees will be desperate to avoid a repeat of this season where they were inflicted with a points deduction.

Everton fans will wait nervously over the future of Jarrad Branthwaite who is becoming one of the most in-demand defenders in the league ahead of the summer.

Although Manchester United are showing an interest in Branthwaite, there is another Everton player who Dyche is desperate to keep around this summer.

Despite the Toffees struggling for large parts of the campaign, there are a number of players who are picking up interest.

Amadou Onana is another player who is receiving interest with Everton demanding in excess of £50m if they are to sell Onana this summer.

But according to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are now showing potential interest in Dominic Calvert-Lewin as they eye a new striker.

The Londoners are said to be looking at the likes of Benjamin Sesko this summer, but view Calvert-Lewin as a cheaper alternative.

Any move for the Everton striker would be met by resistance from Dyche, however, with the Toffees having already offered the Englishman a further two-year deal at the club.

Calvert-Lewin’s current Everton deal only has one year remaining going into the summer so a pivotal few months awaits him in his future on Merseyside.

What Patrick Vieira said about Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Although Calvert-Lewin has had his injury issues in recent years, the Englishman still ended the 2023/24 campaign as Dyche’s top scorer.

Having gone a stretch of 18 Premier League games without finding the back of the net, Calvert-Lewin ended the season in style scoring four in his final seven games.

And this is a player who has received high praise from one of the Premier League greats in Patrick Vieira previously.

“He’s a really strong player, he can play with his back against the goal, he can hold the ball and wait for the team to come forward, he can run in behind,” Vieira told Sky Sports last season.

“I think he’s one of the complete players, I would say.”
