'Demoralising': Don Hutchinson left stunned after what he's just heard about Everton

Former Everton midfielder Don Hutchinson has now reacted after the news he has just heard about Everton ahead of the summer transfer window.

A big summer awaits Sean Dyche‘s side having retained their Premier League status for another season after a turbulent 2023/24 campaign.

Everton have already been linked with a potential move this summer for expected free agent Bobby Decordova-Reid as his time at Fulham edges closer to an end.

But a lot of uncertainties still hang over Goodison Park this summer with Farhad Moshiri still looking to sell his majority share in the club.

It is believed the Everton owner is now discussing proposals from other parties after 777 Partners failed to meet their deadline at the end of last month.

However, what Hutchinson has now heard about the Toffees going into the summer transfer window has shocked him.

What Don Hutchinson has heard about Everton

An interesting summer lies ahead of the Toffees with several Everton players being linked with potential exits over the coming months.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is one of those players with the likes of Chelsea believed to be keen in signing the Englishman this summer.

Young centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite is another player who could find himself on the move over the coming weeks with Manchester United showing an interest in the England international.

And Everton could well find themselves in a position where they are forced to sell this month.

Sky Sports News are now claiming Everton are one of six Premier League clubs who are needing to sell players this month to create some cash flow.

And it is apparent Hutchinson has been left stunned at the news with the former Everton midfielder admitting he finds the update “demoralising”.

The other clubs who are believed to be in the same boat as Everton are Aston Villa, Chelsea, Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest.

To comply with PSR, Everton will have to offload players before 30 June deadline otherwise they could well find themselves on the end of a repeat of the 2023/24 campaign in terms of punishment.

Everton make their stance on PSR clear with Manchester City stance

Although Manchester City are not one of the sides who find themselves needing to sell players this summer, they are also at the centre of financial controversy with the Premier League.

Pep Guardiola’s side are expected to take legal action against the Premier League as their 115 charges still remains unresolved.

And Everton are now believed to have shown their support for Manchester City when it comes to certain aspects of their frustrations against the Premier League.

New rules are to come with how Premier League clubs can spend their money, but for now, the Toffees are set to find themselves in need to create some funds through player sales this month.
