Report: Liverpool now ready to swoop in ahead of Tottenham for Euro 2024-bound £21m player

Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have busy summers ahead of them as they look to improve on their 2023/24 campaigns.

The Reds were fighting for the Premier League title until they suffered a downturn in form in April and had to settle for third place.

Meanwhile, Spurs were in contention for a top-four finish until the latter stages of the season. They also lost form and ultimately finished fifth.

Both the Reds and Tottenham are likely to be busy in the transfer market, and both have been linked with a top Dutch talent in recent days.

Algemeen Dagblad have claimed that Feyenoord defender Lutsharel Geertruida is wanted by Liverpool, Tottenham, Newcastle and West Ham.

Now, CaughtOffside have provided an update on the state of play involving the Reds, Spurs and the 23-year-old.

What is the latest on Liverpool and Tottenham transfer interest in Lutsharel Geertruida?

The report claims that Liverpool are ready to make their move for Geertruida now. They also have an advantage in that new Reds boss Arne Slot worked with the player.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are planning to sell Emerson Royal to AC Milan, and need to wait for that deal to be completed before moving for the Dutchman, claimed the report.

The Eredivisie giants have reportedly set a price tag of €20m-25million (£17-21million) for Geertruida, who’s said to be keen for a new experience in the Premier League.

Geertruida is in the Netherlands squad for Euro 2024, so both Reds and Spurs will be eager to see how the “complete and dominant” defender gets on.

If he goes on to have a great tournament, then both Liverpool and Tottenham will be convinced of his suitability at the highest level. However, the risk is that other suitors may join in.
