Where Chelsea would have finished in the Premier League without Cole Palmer last season

Chelsea managed to finish sixth in the Premier League last season and qualify for European football.

It is something that they could not have done without Cole Palmer.

Palmer was a revelation for Chelsea following his move from Manchester City last summer.

In 33 Premier League appearances for the Blues, he managed to score 22 goals and provide 11 assists.

It means no player came up with more goal contributions than Palmer. Mauricio Pochettino really got the best out of the attacker, so he would have been sad to see him go. However, it has been reported that Palmer has been speaking highly of his successor Enzo Maresca, whom he worked with at City.

How many points did Cole Palmer win for Chelsea?

According to Opta, Palmer’s goals and assists contributed to Chelsea earning 26 points.

That was the difference between Pochettino’s men finishing sixth and 16th.

There probably was not a more influential player to their team than Palmer was to Chelsea.

The Englishman, then, is someone you would certainly expect Maresca to build around, and that should be easy given that he already knows him.

Where will Cole Palmer and Chelsea finish next season?

Chelsea came sixth last term, which was not terrible given that they had so many injuries and where they were for the majority of the campaign.

With a fully fit squad, the Blues really should not be finishing outside of the top four.

A lot is going to depend on Maresca and whether Chelsea have found a way to end their injury nightmare for good.

If they have and Maresca can get his ideas across, then there is probably a good chance of Champions League football returning to Stamford Bridge. If Palmer has another season like the one he just had, then they may end up having more of a good chance.
