Report: West Ham interested in £21m winger who was one of the quickest players in UCL last season

West Ham United are interested in signing a £21m-rated winger who was one of the quickest players in the Champions League last season, according to a recent report.

The Hammers finished ninth last term and missed out on Europe in David Moyes’ final season in charge after two spells at the club.

Former Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui has taken the reigns and is evidently eager to make his own imprint on the squad.

West Ham have been linked with a number of players in recent weeks and a fresh rumour has just emerged.

West Ham United interested in signing Galatasaray Baris Alper Yilmaz

According to Fotospor, West Ham United are interested in signing Galatasaray winger Baris Alper Yilmaz this summer.

The Hammers aren’t alone in their interest, however, as Aston Villa have also been mooted as potential suitors.

Bundesliga duo Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig are also in the race along with Serie A side Bologna.

Yilmaz was just outside the top 10 quickest players in the Champions League last season, clocking in at 33.3 km/h.

The jet-heeled wide player netted seven goals whilst laying on 12 assists for the Turkish champions and is thought to have a £21m pricetag.

Julen Lopetegui keen to add pace

West Ham have been linked to a multitude of players in recent weeks and there seems to be one theme in common.

A lot of the rumoured players have been fast wide players and Yilmaz is the latest example of that notion.

Clearly, the former Real Madrid man has identified a lack of pace in the forward line and is eager to address the issue this window.
