Tottenham now receiving interest from Aston Villa over player Ange Postecoglou hailed ‘quality’

Tottenham Hotspur are now receiving interest from their Premier League rivals Aston Villa over one of their players this summer.

A clearout at Hotspur Way is expected over the coming weeks with Tottenham boasting a bloated squad which Ange Postecoglou wants to improve quality-wise.

Players like Djed Spence are already seemingly heading for the exit doors with talks ongoing with Genoa over a potential deal.

Spurs have already named a number of players who have departed the club following the end of their deals with the likes of Ryan Sessegnon and Japhet Tanganga among the names.

But Daniel Levy will still be looking to bring some money in from the players who have become surplus to requirements at Spurs.

One of those players is now looking like he could be in line for a potential Premier League switch with Aston Villa showing their interest.

Aston Villa keen to sign Tottenham player who Ange Postecoglou hailed ‘quality’

Having fallen just short of the top four, Tottenham have some ground to make up this summer on Aston Villa who pipped them to Champions League qualification.

Unai Emery’s side took fourth spot by a mere two points in the end with Postecoglou’s side coming undone over the final weeks of the season.

Injuries seriously hindered Tottenham and the Australian was forced to look to his bench for inspiration with players like Giovani Lo Celso offering him an alternative to James Maddison.

But the Argentine is one of the players who could be set to depart over the coming months with interest from Spain in Lo Celso reported recently.

According to The Sun, Villa are now one of the clubs who could offer Lo Celso with a move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

Having failed to land a regular spot in Postecoglou’s side this season, Lo Celso is believed to be open to the idea of leaving Spurs.

The Villa manager has previous with Lo Celso having worked with him during their recent time together at Villarreal and Paris Saint-Germain with Emery is said to remain a big fan of the Argentine.

Tottenham must be wary of strengthening a Premier League rival

Levy is going to find himself in a tricky situation when it comes to selling Lo Celso this summer.

Despite Postecoglou hailing his “quality” earlier in the season, it is apparent the World Cup winner is not in his immediate plans.

Despite not playing a huge deal of football this season, Lo Celso did provide Spurs with a lot when he did take to the pitch.

A move back to La Liga could be an option, but whether they could finance the move is a totally different question.

Villa, on the other hand, probably could provide the finances for Lo Celso, but that would mean Spurs would be providing their main top four rivals with a player they feel will strengthen their side.
