Report: Nottingham Forest identify 'fantastic' PL manager as possible Nuno Espirito Santo successor

Nottingham Forest have identified a current Premier League manager to potentially replace Nuno Espirito Santo if he is to leave this summer.

An interesting summer lies in wait for Forest who will need to be proactive in the transfer window over the coming weeks.

Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side may be able to breathe once again having sealed their Premier League safety on the final day of the campaign, but they now face financial pressure.

Forest are one of the clubs who are going to need to sell players before 30 June in order to comply with the PSR regulations.

But it seems Evangelos Marinakis may also have concerns over whether his manager will still be at the club come the start of the new season.

However, it now seems plans are being put in place just incase Nuno is to depart over the coming months.

Forest eyeing manager from Premier League rivals in Nuno plan

Previous reports from the Daily Mail have suggested Nuno has interest from across Europe with teams in have shown an interest in the 50-year-old.

A potential return to his homeland is one of the possibilities for Nuno that has been speculated as well as opportunities in Spain.

This comes after the Forest manager was able to keep the side up in the Premier League despite being hit with their four-point deduction.

Despite this, it is believed Forest are fairly confident of keeping Nuno around over the summer.

According to a new report from the Daily Mail, Forest are now making sure they are covered in case Nuno is to make a sudden exit.

And one of the managers who is in Forest’s back-up plan is the Fulham boss, Marco Silva.

The 46-year-old has previously worked under Marinakis during his stint as the Olympiacos manager between 2015 and 2016.

Having previous with Silva, the Forest owner is reported to be a long-time admirer of his former manager who has impressed at Craven Cottage.

Fulham finished 15 points ahead of Forest last season with a 13 place finish and just two points off a top half spot.

And he has received some big praise from some of his fellow managers with the former Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui having some big praise to direct in his direction.

“They have a very good coach. I know Marco [Silva] he’s doing fantastic work, and in the same way, it’s a challenge for us, and we have to be ready to develop for a good match tomorrow,” he told the media last year.
