Kieran McKenna wants to reunite with released Tottenham Hotspur player at Ipswich Town

Tottenham Hotspur are facing a huge summer and Ange Postecoglou has already started to allow players to leave ahead of a busy few months.

Changes were not only expected but even confirmed as Ange Postecoglou stated in May that he wanted to move some players out of the club.

A fifth-place finish and Europa League action is not bad for Postecoglou’s first season in charge but the Tottenham Hotspur boss wants much more.

That means a huge transfer window is on the cards and Tottenham are already making moves.

Lucas Bergvall finally starts his Tottenham career this summer and Timo Werner is back on loan from RB Leipzig.

Midfielder Tanguy Ndombele looks set to leave the club on a free transfer ahead of his contract expiring next summer and some have already been told that their Spurs careers are over.

Ipswich Town want Japhet Tanganga

Tottenham have confirmed that a handful of players are leaving at the end of their contracts.

Eric Dier and Ivan Perisic are leaving at the end of their deals but already have contracts with loan clubs Bayern Munich and Hajduk Split respectively.

Ryan Sessegnon is leaving after an injury-hit time in North London and Japhet Tanganga’s long association with the club is coming to an end.

The defender has come up in the Tottenham academy but is now leaving with his contract set to expire.

Tanganga broke through under Jose Mourinho but has struggled for game time in recent years.

After spending this past season on loan at Augsburg and Millwall, Tanganga is now on the move permanently.

A deal with Millwall appeared to be in place but Tanganga now looks to be attracting Premier League interest.

The Sunday Mirror (09/06, p70) report that Ipswich Town are looking into a move to sign Tanganga on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old is exploring his options and could provide a versatile option across the back four as Ipswich look to strengthen after promotion to the Premier League.

Luton Town are also keen after relegation to the Championship but Ipswich being able to offer Premier League football may be appealing.

Tanganga could reunite with Kieran McKenna

Another factor which could work in Ipswich’s favour is the presence of boss Kieran McKenna.

The Northern Irishman has snubbed interest from Premier League clubs in order to stay with Ipswich after achieving back-to-back promotions.

McKenna is a familiar name to Tottenham fans having previously coached the Under-18’s, before leaving for Manchester United in 2016.

Tanganga was coming up in McKenna’s side at Tottenham and the pair will know each other well.

A reunion at Portman Road could make sense for all involved with McKenna potentially feeling that he can get Tanganga’s career back on track.

That connection should appeal to Tanganga too with the defender needing a manager who believes in him as he prepares for the next step after leaving Tottenham.

Spurs fans will want the best for Tanganga; it may not have worked out as hoped at Tottenham but he certainly deserves another chance at Premier League success after coming through the Spurs ranks and showing potential before fading out of the plans.
