'He is going to': Scott Minto thinks he knows what Conor Gallagher is going to do this summer

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher’s future remains up in the air.

Conor Gallagher has entered the final year of his contract at Chelsea and is being linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

One potential destination for him this summer is Villa Park.

It has been claimed that Aston Villa have been in discussions with Chelsea over a potential deal for the 24-year-old.

He was a key player for Mauricio Pochettino last season, making 50 appearances in all competitions.

Scott Minto makes Conor Gallagher prediction

As well as Villa, Gallagher has also been linked to Tottenham Hotspur.

It was recently reported that Chelsea’s London rivals were preparing to make a bid for the Englishman.

Scott Minto, though, can see Gallagher seeing out his contract and then potentially leaving Stamford Bridge next summer on a free transfer.

Speaking about his future on talkSPORT, the former Chelsea defender said: “So, they are within PSR rules, which might mean that he doesn’t have to sell.

“They don’t have to sell Conor Gallagher, but actually I think Conor Gallagher, he has got only a year left, he is going to sit on that contract.”

Will Conor Gallagher stay at Chelsea without signing a new contract?

Being at the club his whole life, Gallagher obviously loves Chelsea. He will want to stay there for as long as possible, which may mean trying to sit on his existing deal.

In theory, he has another season left at Chelsea, that he probably wants to play.

However, this ownership have already made it clear that players will not be leaving on free transfers anymore after watching Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen walk away for nothing in 2022.

Last summer, the club sold both Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic after they entered the final 12 months of their contracts. Gallagher faces the same fate if he does not put pen to paper on a new deal, and right now that looks unlikely to happen.
