TV star and doctor Michael Mosley has tragically died, his final social media post taking on a whole new meaning for his mourning fans.

Michael Mosley was a British media figure cherished for providing a wealth of advice to help lead a better and healthier life. A TV journalist, a presenter, a producer, a doctor, a writer—he did so much, having worked for the BBC since 1985 following his graduation from medical school. British audiences knew him well as a friendly face on The One Show and a wide range of other shows which benefited dearly from his knowledge and expertise. He had also become synonymous with the promotion of the 5:2 diet. Tragically, his wife Claire has confirmed his shocking and tragic death.

TV doctor Michael Mosley has died at 67 in Greece

Michael was reported missing after he left Agios Nikolaos beach on the Greek island of Symi on Wednesday, June 5th 2024. Unfortunately, his body was discovered that Sunday during an extensive search.

Since the announcement, it has been revealed that CCTV footage appears to show Michael falling, and his body was found near the scene where the footage was captured. It shows a man descending a rocky slope before vanishing from sight, Metro reports.

Further tests will later confirm the cause of death, as it’s currently uncertain whether a medical issue brought upon the fall itself. Both his wife and friends were at Agios Nikolaos beach while he went on a walk.

News of the TV star’s body’s being discovered arrived courtesy of Claire, whose heartbreaking tribute has left fans, friends, and family stricken with grief.

“I don’t know quite where to begin with this,” she said. “It’s devastating to have lost Michael, my wonderful, funny, kind and brilliant husband. We had an incredibly lucky life together. We loved each other very much and were so happy together.”

She included in her statement that she and the family “have been hugely comforted by the outpouring of love from people from around the world.”

On the same week as his passing, Michael would ultimately and unknowingly say goodbye to fans with one final social media post on Instagram [above].

The desire to help was Michael’s bottom line, and seeing the post after the terrible news has made fans all the more emotional.

“Dr Mosley, you saved me from diabetes,” one shared their story in the comments. “I was diagnosed but had so much respect for you, when nothing else worked I turned to the 800 fast diet. I reversed my diabetes. Because of you. My heart breaks for you and your family. What a loss. I will be forever grateful for the gift of health you gave me.”

An outpouring of love and support has overwhelmed the comment section, with so many people praising him for his kindness. “Rest in peace you beautiful soul,” another wrote. “We will miss you.”
