£25m defender is really tempted by the idea of joining Tottenham after rejecting Saudi move

Tottenham Hotspur is emerging as a ‘tempting’ destination for a Bundesliga defender who’s already rejected a move to the Saudi Pro League.

Spurs are expected to prioritise moves for a new midfielder and forward this summer, with extra quality desperately needed in both areas of the pitch.

Ange Postecoglou’s first-choice back four seems fairly settled moving forward after Destiny Udogie, Pedro Porro, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero all impressed last season.

Radu Dragusin has also stepped in and caught the eye when required after his January switch from Genoa.

Tottenham are still in need of cover at full-back though, with Udogie’s injury leading to Van de Ven stepping in at left-back last term.

One defender who is reportedly on the club’s radar is Hiroki Ito, with the Stuttgart centre-back also capable of filling in at left-back.

According to German outlet Kicker, Ito is tempted by the idea of a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

Ito tempted by Tottenham move after rejecting Saudi Pro League

Kicker claims that Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Nassr attempted to sign Ito back in January.

The Japan international has so far turned down advances from the Middle East, with Al-Ahli also showing interest.

However, it’s claimed that the interest from Spurs is ‘tempting’ the defender as Stuttgart sweat over the defender’s future.

Previous reports have also claimed that Ito has a release clause in his current deal believed to be worth around £25 million.

Ito move could depend on Ben Davies’ future

Snapping up Ito would make perfect sense for Tottenham should Ben Davies head out the door this summer.

Davies reportedly features on a lengthy list of first-team players Postecoglou is willing to offload.

Ito boasts a similar profile to that of Davies as he is capable of playing both centrally and as a full-back.

At 25, Ito would also provide Postecoglou with a younger alternative as Davies is set to turn 32 next year.
