Newcastle United are under pressure to sell this month due to PSR, and one of the candidates to depart is actually open to leaving.
It would appear that the Magpies need to sell someone before June 30th, which is when Premier League clubs must submit their next set of accounts to show they are complying with profit and sustainability rules.
Cashing in on Bruno Guimaraes would sort out Newcastle’s financial woes, but it would set the club back even further. While there is concern surrounding his £100million release clause, it would be a disaster if he left St James’ Park this month.
Instead, Newcastle must try and move someone else on. Miguel Almiron feels like a likely candidate, although it has been reported that he would like to remain in the North East.
However, it is a different story for one of Almiron’s Toon teammates.

There has been plenty of debate surrounding Callum Wilson‘s Newcastle United future this summer.
It has been reported that the hierarchy want to sell him, given the fact he is 32-years-old and is entering the final year of his contract. From a business perspective, it makes sense to sell now, rather than give him a new contract or let him leave on a free in 2025.
However, Eddie Howe has been very vocal about his desire to keep Wilson at the club. He has made it clear how expensive it will be to replace him, with the likes of Benjamin Sesko proving exactly why that will be the case.
But how does Wilson feel about leaving? The Telegraph believe they have the answer.
According to the Telegraph, Wilson is interested in leaving Newcastle United this summer and is open to starting a new challenge. They add that he could be sold by the Magpies, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin viewed as a possible replacement.
It could be the perfect time for Newcastle to say goodbye to Wilson
If Wilson really is open to leaving St James’ Park this summer then now could be the perfect time to send him on his way.
Newcastle United need to increase their revenue by selling someone, and it would appear that Wilson is willing to go. Therefore, it makes sense to part ways this summer.
However, it will depend on how much interest there is in the £20million man, and how much money Newcastle can get for him. The deal has to be right for the Magpies, as they look to boost their PSR position.
Letting Wilson go would also force the club to step up their search for a new striker. In truth, it might be the kickstart that they need, as there must be a very real temptation to keep a player of Wilson’s quality given the cost of signing a replacement.
Wilson has been fantastic in black and white. Only Alan Shearer has scored more Premier League goals for Newcastle United, with Wilson consistently finding the net since his arrival from Bournemouth in 2020.
But the big problem has been fitness, which has to come into Newcastle’s thinking when they ponder letting him go. Eddie Howe needs a striker who he can rely on, while Wilson is open to a fresh start elsewhere.
When you look at it like that, a Toon departure feels inevitable.
