Tottenham Hotspur now facing problems in attempts to sell two players this summer

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to move players out of the club this summer as Ange Postecoglou looks to build on a fifth-place finish in his debut season.

Ange Postecoglou’s debut season went pretty well, securing a fifth-place finish and Europa League football for next term.

It could have been better but a collapse in November – brought on by injuries and suspensions – alongside a torrid end to the season meant that Tottenham missed out on the top four.

Postecoglou will be determined to take Tottenham forward and that ultimately means that some difficult decisions need to be made.

The Tottenham boss has already admitted that he will be looking to move players out of the club this summer.

We have already seen the likes of Japhet Tanganga and Ryan Sessegnon released at the end of their contracts, whilst Tanguy Ndombele looks set to be released in the coming days.

Emerson Royal to AC Milan latest

It isn’t just out of contract players and unwanted loanees who will be leaving Tottenham this summer.

Postecoglou is ready to cash in on some fringe first-team players in order to raise funds for signings.

Emerson Royal is a perfect example with the Brazilian available some three years after arriving from Barcelona.

Emerson started this past season at right back but ended up falling out of the side as Pedro Porro nailed down the starting role under Postecoglou.

Now primed to leave Tottenham this summer, Emerson is wanted by AC Milan – and allegedly fancies a move to the San Siro.

However, Emerson and Tottenham may face something of a wait.

The Daily Mail claim that AC Milan’s talks are continuing but they are currently short of the £21million Tottenham are demanding.

Until Milan structure a deal to meet Tottenham’s asking price, it’s difficult to imagine that a deal will be done.

That would be a source of real frustration for Tottenham, who would no doubt want to get Emerson moved on quickly in order to bolster the transfer fund and quickly land a replacement in plenty of time for the new season.

Giovani Lo Celso’s Tottenham exit could drag on

It’s a similar story with midfielder Giovani Lo Celso.

The Argentinian arrived with big expectations in 2019 having dazzled for Real Betis.

Tottenham haven’t really seen the best of Lo Celso though and he only started four Premier League games under Postecoglou this past season.

Lo Celso really needs to leave Tottenham this summer in order to get his career back on track and Real Betis actually want him to return to Spain.

There are problems there as well though as Betis need to offload the likes of Nabil Fekir, William Carvalho and Willian Jose in order to strike a deal.

That is according to ABC over in Spain, and they suggest that Betis may only be in a position to sign Lo Celso in August.

That is two months away and Tottenham would loathe to see the situation drag out that long as Postecoglou looks to mould his squad.

Tottenham need to move Emerson and Lo Celso out of the club this summer, but are now facing the frustration of both players being sat around waiting for moves away – and potentially impacts the incoming transfer business.
