Report: Molineux icon who Wolves still 'miss' could be on the move again just one year after leaving

Wolves icon Raul Jimenez could be set to leave Fulham after just one season – and he could finally make a move that has long been touted.

Jimenez left Molineux last summer, having fallen out of favour under Julen Lopetegui.

Jimenez struggled with his fitness throughout 2022/23, with a niggling groin injury limiting him to just 20 appearances across all competitions.

At the end of the season, Lopetegui left Jimenez out of a string of matchday squads, preferring to use the likes of Diego Costa and Matheus Cunha up top.

Lopetegui then angered many Wolves fans by not allowing Jimenez to get any minutes in the club’s final home game against Everton, amid speculation he would be leaving the club.

Jimenez joined Fulham, but it looks like his stay with the Cottagers could already be coming to an end…

It has been reported today by Mexican outlet W Deportes that Raul Jimenez could be leaving Fulham after just one season, with Club America having held talks over their former player.

Their manager André Jardine has given the move the green light, and it is just now a question of whether an agreement can be reached.

Club America really want him, and there is a feeling from the player’s entourage that it is time for Jimenez to return ‘home’ since he has nothing left to prove in Europe.

But it is also suggested that two clubs from Turkey – Besiktas and Trabzonspor – have asked about him.

The ball is said to be firmly in Jimenez’s court.

Fulham would seemingly be open to letting him leave for a decent price. The 33-year-old only managed to score seven goals last season in 24 appearances, as he again struggled with some injuries.

Jimenez should make Club America return

Wolves fans will be intrigued to see where Jimenez goes, after a disappointing first season at Fulham.

Jimenez managing to get seven goals was actually pretty decent going, but he just struggled with his fitness once more and didn’t play anywhere near as much as he would have liked.

It really is a shame how much injuries have affected him in the late stages of his career.

Wolves fans will never forget how good a player he was before he sustained that horrific skull injury back in November 2020 against Arsenal. He was truly one of the most fearsome strikers in the Premier League at the time, and his demise had a major impact on Wolves, who struggled in front of goal in his absence. Even chairman Jeff Shi recently admitted that Wolves still really miss the Jimenez of old.

Jimenez has never been the same since that injury, and the little niggles he’s had in the last few years must have been so frustrating on top of that.

We will see if he finally makes that move to Club America, which was a transfer link that happened a number of times while he was still at Wolves.

Perhaps it would suit him to wind down at his former club, where he will be idolised and the intensity would not be as high as it is in the Premier League.
