Aston Villa plot £27m reunion in three-team battle to sign ‘machine’ who’d replace Jhon Duran

Aston Villa have now been linked to a reunion with a former player who could help Unai Emery solve one pending issue.

The summer transfer window is poised to be an exceptionally busy time at Villa Park, as Unai Emery and Monchi hunt for reinforcements.

While the duo will hope to strengthen the Aston Villa squad in the market, Monchi will have to tread carefully to adhere to PSR concerns.

That being said, Villa have already been linked to several possible targets this summer, with a special reunion now possible.

Aston Villa are interested in Roma striker Tammy Abraham

In the 2018/19 campaign, Aston Villa were charmed by the quality of Tammy Abraham, who arrived on loan from Chelsea.

The Englishman was integral to Villa securing promotion to the Premier League and now, reports suggest that a reunion could be on the cards.

Italian outlet Leggo, relayed by Sport Witness, claim that Aston Villa, West Ham and Leicester City are on alert to sign Abraham this summer.

It’s claimed that Roma are willing to part ways with the 26-year-old to raise funds, with the forward sporting a price tag of €30m (£27m).

Separately, Leggo reported that Abraham ‘wants’ a Premier League return after spending three years in Rome.

Abraham could be the ideal Jhon Duran replacement

Interest in Abraham seems to have come at a perfect time for both the target and Villa, who look set to lose a striker this summer.

Jhon Duran’s future has been heavily speculated in the build-up to the transfer window, with the 20-year-old now wanting to leave amid interest from Chelsea.

Abraham’s quality does not need to be explained in detail when it comes to his suitability to play for Villa, being hugely appreciated for his time at the club in 2018/19.

That season, the Chelsea academy graduate contributed to 29 goals for the Villans, via Transfermarkt, being a driving force behind the push for promotion.

Academy coach Stephen Elliott branded Abraham a ‘goal machine’ for his form at Chelsea after his loan at Villa, where he netted 15 Premier League goals for the Blues.

While Duran is a valued member of Emery’s squad as a number two to Ollie Watkins, the Colombian is still early into his career, missing experience that Abraham could offer.

Having already excelled at Villa and shown his worth in the top flight, Emery could now capture the ideal replacement for Duran and a quality alternative to Watkins.
