Report: 'Important' manager has rejected move to be Nuno's replacement at Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest have now been rejected by one specific manager as they search for potential replacements for Nuno Espirito Santo.

Having sealed Nottingham Forest‘s survival in the Premier League last season, there is still some uncertainties as to whether Nuno Espirito Santo will be around come August.

It is believed the Portuguese manager has received interest from various different countries having kept Forest in the top flight.

And that has seemingly led Evangelos Marinakis to seek potential replacements for the 50-year-old manager at the City Ground.

But the club’s latest efforts have been rejected in what would certainly been an audacious appointment had they succeeded.

Forest rejected by established European manager

A turbulent campaign for Forest can now be put to bed with Nuno able to keep the Reds up on the final day of the season.

However, there are still some issues which need resolving at Forest ahead of the new season getting underway.

One of those being Forest’s need to sell players before the end of the month to meet the PSR deadline on 30 June.

But as Forest look to plan for the new campaign, it is apparent there is still a lot of uncertainty remaining about who will be sat in the dugout come August.

According to reports in Italy, Forest have seen their approach for the former AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli knocked back.

Although the offer was described as ‘important’ the 58-year-old is said to be waiting for something more ‘stimulating’ to arrive.

The Italian only left Milan at the end of the campaign after they finished second in Serie A – albeit considerably adrift of their city rivals.

Forest were ambitious to try for Stefano Pioli

Considering where Forest finished last season, attempting to bring in a manager of Pioli’s calibre was always going to be an audacious move.

Afterall, this is a manager who won the Scudetto just two years ago with Milan and even managed a second-placed finish last term in a difficult Serie A season.

So seeing him drop from the top end of one of Europe’s best leagues to a side who, ultimately, stayed up by the skin of their teeth was always going to be a big ask.

Regardless of what is to happen with Nuno, Forest will surely just want an answer soon so they can prepare for the season ahead.
