Adam Wharton shares what Oliver Glasner does to make things "so much easier" for Crystal Palace players

Adam Wharton has been discussing the impact Oliver Glasner has had since his arrival at Crystal Palace in February.

Ever since Austrian manager Oliver Glasner arrived at Selhurst Park, things have been on the up for the Eagles and several players have become stars.

Adam Wharton is one, with Jean-Philippe Mateta and Daniel Munoz being other notable players who’ve benefitted tremendously from the arrival of Glasner at Palace.

The manager has been a revelation for Crystal Palace and brought a new world to the football club in comparison to what was becoming the norm under Roy Hodgson.

Now, Wharton has praised his manager, while speaking during the England camp prior to Euro 2024.

Adam Wharton shares verdict on Oliver Glasner

Speaking to media in the build-up to England’s Euro 2024 opener against Serbia, Wharton was discussing the impact that Glasner has had since he arrived at Selhurst Park.

“I think he’s a top coach, I think you can see since he’s come in for the last part of the season. The way that we’ve played has changed, that’s his way of playing and we’ve been getting the results to show for our performances.

“But he’s brought in a new way of playing, a new formation, he makes sure every session intense, you know, if we’re not intense enough, we’re not training to the right standard, he’ll let us know.

“As players, that’s what you want, you want training to be at a high standard because when you go into the games, then you can produce, so yeah I think he’s been massive, especially for the four Palace lads to get chosen he definitely helped.

“He’s tactically very good and you know in training we’ll work on the tactical side quite a lot and it just makes it so much easier as players that he tells you what he wants you to do and where he wants you to be, so he’s a top manager for sure.”

For Wharton to touch upon how detail-orientated and tactically minded Glasner says a lot about the Austrian.

How much did Adam Wharton improve under Oliver Glasner?

Wharton has been a promising prospect ever since he arrived at the club, however upon first viewing against Brighton, it seemed like that was all he was, a prospect.

However, under Glasner, the former Blackburn midfielder began performing with an incredible consistency and ended the season with eight strong performances.

He impressed against Manchester City, Liverpool, Newcastle United, Manchester United and Aston Villa and other less eye-catching teams.

Now at Euro 2024, Wharton’s star continues to rise and he has Glasner to thank for unlocking this potential so quickly in him. There’s now no telling how high he can go.
