Kate Middleton 'considering' surprise appearance but it could overshadow Charles

The Princess of Wales has been excused from royal duties on medical grounds since December 2023, but now fans may have a chance to finally see her again on the balcony at the Trooping the Colour ceremony.

It’s been 170 days since Kate Middleton has made an appearance and fans have been speculating if we will ever see the princess working again. She was excused from her royal duties due to her ongoing preventative cancer treatment. The Princess recently sent a letter to the Irish Guards, apologizing for missing their rehearsal for the upcoming Trooping the Colour ceremony, which takes place annually to celebrate the birthday of the British Sovereign, and would usually be a busy time for Kate.

“It would upstage Charles” – Why Kate’s balcony appearance is unlikely.

As Colonel of the Irish Guards, Kate would usually play a huge part in the Trooping of Colour, and fans were hoping that it would allow them to finally see the princess again.

Sources claimed this week there were rumors she’d be in view on the famous Buckingham Palace balcony for the upcoming event.

Speaking to GB News, royal correspondent Cameron Walker confirmed that “Kensington Palace has not ruled out a balcony appearance”.

However, he believes that this is highly “unlikely” as the whole ceremony is a celebration for King Charles, and if Kate appears then all the attention will be on her, and it would “upstage” him.

It’s been 170 days since Kate has made an official appearance as a member of The Firm. Fans last caught a glimpse of the 42-year-old on Christmas Day as she and other royals headed for church service.

In January, she underwent planned abdominal surgery and has remained out of the spotlight since.

When fears over her absence grew in the following weeks, the mom-of-three announced she had been diagnosed with a form of cancer and would undergo preventative cancer treatment. At the time, Kensington Palace said Kate would likely be back to her royal duties after Easter, but has yet to surface. Although, Prince William gave fans a glimmer of hope when he issued an update on her health in a recent appearance.

Kate is ‘under pressure’

Although everyone has been wondering and theorizing about when we will next catch a glimpse of Kate, the current advice is that “we should not speculate when she will return to work”, as Kensington Palace has stated that they will “provide an update when there is one”.

The speculation surrounding her appearances “puts unnecessary pressure on her”, with Cameron adding, “she’s human, and she’s been through a lot since January”.

Trooping the Colour takes place on Saturday, June 15, and is sure to have an incredibly large audience this year after the turbulent few months for the family.

Whether it’s at Trooping the Colour or not, we hope to see the Princess of Wales recovered and back to her duties soon!
