‘Expected to sign’: 17-year-old midfielder has been trialling at Chelsea, he’s off to Strasbourg – journalist

Journalist Papa Mahmoud Gueye has claimed that Chelsea have made a decision over one young player who has been on trial at the club.

It has been a clear part of the policy ever since Todd Boehly took over as the club owner two years ago that they are keen to add young players to their ranks.

It goes as far as looking to beat fellow elite sides to some of the best prospects in the world, and they have certainly been successful in this up to now.

The highlight addition at this stage has been Kendry Paez, who is not even able to join up with the club until next summer.

However, he has already emerged as a key player for the Ecuador national team alongside Moises Caicedo, and is set for a big breakout tournament at the Copa America.

Pape Daouda Diongue set for Strasbourg move

Another player who has been on trial at the club in recent months is Pape Daouda Diongue, who caught the eye of those at Stamford Bridge whilst at Darou Salam.

Gueye took to Twitter to state that after his time in London, he would be set for a long-term move to their partner club, Strasbourg.

He said: “Trialled at Chelsea, which shares the same owner as Strasbourg, Pape Daouda Diongue, 17, is expected to sign with the Alsatian club for five seasons this summer, when he reaches the age of majority. His training club, Darou Salam, should receive around 1.2 million euros.”

It is another example of the Blues making the most of their multi-club model, which they are planning to expand around the world in the coming years.

Fabrizio Romano claimed as well that the owners had completed a deal to sign promising defender Pedro Lima, and he would be learning his trade in Europe as part of the Ligue 1 side, with a clear eye to a move to Stamford Bridge in the future.
