'Considered a fantastic player': £50m Chelsea man is a dream target for one club - Fabrizio Romano

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has been discussing one club’s interest in a Chelsea star.

A lot of players in Enzo Maresca‘s squad have caught the attention of other teams.

Conor Gallagher is reportedly attracting interest from Aston Villa, while Levi Colwill is believed to be someone who Bayern Munich are currently looking at.

It means there could be exits at Stamford Bridge this summer.

In terms of arrivals, there has already been one, with the Blues bringing Tosin Adarabioyo in. The central defender joined the club from Fulham on a free transfer.

Club really want Chelsea star

Chelsea may have missed out on the top four and will not be in the Champions League next season, but they still have very good players in their squad.

That obviously includes the likes of Gallagher and Colwill, who are both wanted by other clubs.

In fact, according to Romano, the former is actually a dream target for Villa this summer.

Speaking about the midfield on Substack, the Italian journalist said: “He’s one of their dream targets. They will sign Ross Barkley in midfield, but Gallagher is also a target and considered a fantastic player.”

Why is Conor Gallagher a dream target for Aston Villa?

Gallagher ticks a lot of boxes. At 24, the Chelsea man is at a good age, he has Premier League experience and is an England international.

Gallagher is pretty much a complete box-to-box midfielder as well. He can do both parts of the game and proved it last season.

For example, Gallagher had the third-highest average for tackles (2.3) in Chelsea’s squad and the second-most assists (seven) behind Cole Palmer, according to WhoScored.

It is no wonder that Villa want Gallagher, though he is not going to come cheap. Chelsea want at least £50m for him this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

While the Blues have seemingly put a price tag on the Three Lions player, there is still a possibility that he remains at Stamford Bridge. It has also been claimed that Chelsea are thinking about handing him a new contract.
