Tottenham have £28m striker on their radar this summer that Harry Kane hailed ‘fantastic’

Tottenham Hotspur now have a former England international on their radar this summer as a possible option up top.

Perhaps the biggest question of the summer at Hotspur Way remains who will be targeted this summer as Tottenham‘s long-term successor to Harry Kane.

Richarlison remains a potential summer exit with The Spurs News understanding the club would listen to offers if they were in the region of what they payed back in 2022.

Postecoglou has remained insistent that Daniel Levy provides him with more attacking power over the window having already signed Timo Werner on a season-long loan.

As questions remain over who could come in at striker this summer, The Spurs News has spoken with HITC Football‘s transfer guru Graeme Bailey to get the latest from north London.

Tottenham have former Premier League striker on their radar

It became apparent last season that a new striker was going to be needed this summer following the injury issues Richarlison struggled with.

When fit, the Brazilian looked like a competent option, but his fitness issues meant Heung-min Son was forced to play through the middle for large periods of the campaign.

Former Tottenham striker Les Ferdinand sat down with The Spurs News and admitted feels the South Korean operates best from his natural wide position.

And it seems Tottenham are now eyeing up a former Chelsea striker who has now been out of the Premier League for three years.

Bailey has informed The Spurs News that AS Roma’s Tammy Abraham is a player who features on Tottenham’s radar when it comes to striker options.

“It’s my belief that Santiago Gimenez is the number one target, but Tammy Abraham is available,” Bailey said.

“The price is around £28m. So it’s pretty tempting in terms of fee.

“He’s an interesting one. We know a lot of clubs are looking at him after coming off the back of an injury filled season. He is on Tottenham’s radar, but they’ve got to see what happens with Richarlison.

“I don’t think he’ll top a lot of Spurs fans’ lists, but he’s an interesting alternative, I guess.”

What Harry Kane has said about Tammy Abraham

Having previously played 89 times in the Premier League with Chelsea and Swansea City, Abraham has been able to tally up 26 goals in the English top flight.

Big question marks will remain over his injury record which saw him miss just about a full year of football over 2023/24.

However, former Spurs striker and Abraham’s compatriot Kane has previously had some interesting praise to put on the 26-year-old.

“I think that Tammy is a great player,” Kane told the media back in 2022.

“He’s had a fantastic season at club level, he’s still learning and has experience to gain but every time he comes here he works hard and trains hard.”
