1 man killed, another injured in Trenton shooting, cops say

One man died on Tuesday night and another man was injured after they were shot on a Trenton city street, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Police arrived at the scene of a shooting, at the intersection of Stuyvesant and Hoffman avenues, shortly after 5 p.m., officials said. No victims or suspects were located in the area.

Officers were later told that two shooting victims went to Captial Health Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Johnathan Applegate, of Trenton, who was shot multiple times, was later pronounced dead at the hospital, prosecutors said. Authorities did not immediately release his age.

A second male victim was treated for a single gunshot wound and later released, authorities said.

Investigators are still working to identify a suspect. The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office is asking anyone with tips to call Detective Karl Johnson at 609-439-5248 or send an email to mchtftips@mercercounty.org.
