Former Nottinghamshire Police PCC and Sherwood MP honoured on the King’s Honour List

A former police and crime commissioner has been recognised amongst other figures on the King’s Birthday Honours list this year.

Simon Patrick Tipping, most known as Paddy Tipping was recognised by King Charles III for his accomplishments and service in different areas.

For nearly 20 years he was the Labour MP for Sherwood, from 1992 until 2010 and after that from 2012 until 2021 he worked as the Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner until he was replaced by Caroline Henry.

For his service in parliament and politics, the King honoured Paddy as a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE), which is the highest ranking order after a knighthood or damehood.

On his social media, Paddy wrote: “It's a privilege to be awarded a CBE.

“I'm a bit embarrassed as it's an honour itself to have the opportunity to serve. Thanks so much to everyone I've worked with.

“Thanks too for all the kind words and good wishes.”

He currently works in the NHS and voluntary sector.
