Report: Tottenham are set to hold meeting over signing £68m Premier League star this week

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to hold a meeting over signing a current Premier League star this week.

Spurs are yet to make a big move this summer but have extended Timo Werner’s loan move from RB Leipzig by a further year.

Ange Postecoglou is expected to target further reinforcements in attack though, as well as another option in midfield.

One player who would tick both boxes for Spurs is Eberechi Eze, with the Crystal Palace star able to operate in midfield and out wide.

Tottenham have been long linked with a move for the England star and are keen on landing him this summer.

And Football Transfers has provided the latest on Spurs’ interest in Eze, claiming a meeting is set to be held over the Palace playmaker this week.

Tottenham set to hold meeting over Eberechi Eze move

Football Transfers claims that representatives are set to hold a meeting at the end of the week to discuss a move for Eze.

The Palace star isn’t likely to push for a move away from Selhurst Park but expects his current club to allow an exit if Spurs meet their demands.

Oliver Glasner is keen to keep hold of Eze and Palace won’t entertain a sale unless their demands are matched.

Tottenham face stern competition for Eze signing

Eze reportedly has a release clause worth £60 million in his contract with Palace, with any club wanting to sign him also required to pay an extra £8 million in add-ons.

Should Tottenham decide to activate that clause, it would make Eze the club’s record signing over the recently released Tanguy Ndombele. But they are likely to face stern competition for the Englishman’s signature, with Arsenal and Manchester City also keen.

Snapping up Eze would certainly lay down a marker from Tottenham’s point of view though and he ticks plenty of boxes for Postecoglou.

The 25-year-old would provide competition for James Maddison, who endured a difficult end to the last campaign, while also providing a top-quality option off the left-hand side.
