Report: Crystal Palace set for meeting with Spurs over sale of "world-class" £100,000-a-week player

Crystal Palace will be desperate to avoid losing all of their stars this summer, but avoiding this seems like a tricky task.

For Oliver Glasner the worst outcome of this summer would be losing all three of Ebere Eze, Michael Olise and Marc Guehi – with emphasis on the two attackers.

This however is beginning to look concerningly likely, with both Eze and Olise having clauses which could leave Crystal Palace helpless to prevent their departures.

Both Eze and Olise are superb talents and their departures – should they transpire – could leave the Eagles lacking teeth next season.

Now, reports have suggested a meeting could be about to take place regarding one of the pair.

Crystal Palace set for talks over Ebere Eze sale

As the possible sale of Olise looks like it’s being heavily discussed, now reports are suggesting that Spurs are set to open talks with representatives over the possible acquisition of Eze.

It’s according to a report, from Football Transfers, that this is the case. It explains that Spurs are set for a meeting this week in order to discuss purchasing Palace’s star man.

Eze is currently at the Euros with England and so no deal will be imminent until after England are eliminated from the tournament, which could be quite late.

That being said with interest in Eze high, Palace could face a real battle to keep him this summer. Eze will likely be expecting to be sold as it was earlier reported that he has a gentleman’s agreement with the club.

£60m is the price required to prize him out of the clutches of the Eagles and if this happens, he’ll probably see his £100k-a-week contract improved.

How can Palace replace Eze?

Much has been made of Palace needing to replace Olise this summer but less has been mentioned regarding a replacement for the “world-class” talent that is Eze.

But it cannot be mistaken, if Eze goes he must be replaced and there are several interesting options in order to do so.

But before recruitmen can be thought of, Palace may already have the solution in the squad, if Matheus Franca can kick on and start making good on his huge potential.

But if this can’t be trusted, Palace have other options with the likes of Jonathan Rowe and Jaden Philogene being solid options who have both been linked with the Eagles in recent months.

So if Eze is lost, it seems like Palace have options in terms of how they go about replacing him.
