Report: Liverpool in talks to sign 'rising star' who was shortlisted for the 2024 Golden Boy award

Liverpool are in talks to sign a ‘rising star’ who was shortlisted for the 2024 Golden Boy award, according to a recent report.

The Merseysiders will have a new look about them next season, particularly in the dugout with Arne Slot taking the reigns from Jurgen Klopp.

But also on the pitch, with the Dutchman expected to add his own imprint on the squad in the summer transfer window.

With that said, The Reds are in talks to make their first signing of the summer.

Liverpool make contact to sign Yasin Ozcan

According to Turkish outlet Aslinda, Liverpool have made contact with Kasimpasa to sign Yasin Ozcan this summer.

The 18-year-old has been also been attracting interest from Super Lig giants Besiktas, who could join the race.

Ozcan, who plies his trade at centre-back, has been on Liverpool’s radar for some time and it’s thought club chiefs are keen on investing in young players to develop.

The 2006-born is considered a ‘rising star’ and was shortlisted for the 2024 Golden Boy award – which crowns the best young player on the continent.

Yasin Ozcan profile

Ozcan is a left-footed defender who can operate in a number of positions across the backline, evincing his terrific versatility – an increasingly popular trait in the modern game.

The under-21 Turkey international can play at centre-back, left-back and even as a left-midfielder, demonstrating his ability to go forward, too.

If Liverpool do land his signature, he’ll likely join up with Slot’s squad in pre-season before a judgment is made on whether he should be shipped out on loan.
