‘I can say’: What AC Milan are now saying about signing Tottenham’s Emerson Royal - journalist

Tottenham Hotspur may have hit a bump in the road when it comes to offloading their Brazilian right-back Emerson Royal this summer.

The clearout at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is well underway this summer with several players already leaving the club.

Ange Postecoglou‘s first season in north London provided him with the opportunity to evaluate the squad which he inherited from Antonio Conte’s time at the club.

And it has become apparent that there are a number of players who did not cut it for the Australian at Tottenham.

Players like Tanguy Ndombele and Ryan Sessegnon have already been moved on with Spurs taking significant losses on both players by allowing them to leave for free.

But they may now encounter some issues when it comes to selling their second choice right-back Emerson Royal over the coming weeks.

AC Milan issue Emerson Royal message to Tottenham

Clearing the decks of any unwanted players will mark a positive start to the summer transfer window for Tottenham.

It will provide both Postecoglou and the fans with a clear indication of what needs to be done when it comes to signings with squad depth key to Tottenham’s success for the upcoming campaign.

Additions just about all over the pitch will be needed at Tottenham over the coming months with a much busier season to contend with next time around.

According to journalist Carlo Pellegatti, Milan have other priorities to solve before they look to secure Emerson’s signature.

“Defenders aren’t taking any at the moment . For one reason: Milan’s first signing, according to what they say, will be a striker,” he said.

“The attacker is the priority: first they will have to understand what the outlay will be for him. And I’ll say something else. When they tell me no they have never betrayed me and I can say that Rafa Marin is not interested. However, the track for Emerson Royal must be kept alive.

“There is already an agreement with the agents and I don’t think there are any major discussions with Tottenham,” Pellegatti added.

“Milan said ‘yes, but he won’t be our first signing. We’ll talk about it later.’ I can also take this situation for granted.”

Tottenham already eyeing Emerson Royal upgrade in Vanderson

It is already believed that Spurs have made contact with Monaco over the availability of right-back Vanderson this summer.

From one Brazilian to another, Tottenham could potentially be replacing Emerson with a player who they feel could offer a more suitable alternative to Pedro Porro.

Emerson struggled massively at times over the 2023/24 campaign when he filled in for various injuries where it became apparent he struggled to match the quality needed.

But it will be interesting to see whether Spurs need to offload Emerson first before they are able to facilitate a move for Vanderson.
