Tottenham have £43m Brazilian midfielder on their radar as Conor Gallagher alternative

Tottenham Hotspur now have their sights on a midfielder this summer who seriously impressed over the 2023/24 campaign.

The summer window is yet to bring in any permanent signings for Ange Postecoglou just yet with Tottenham‘s only arrival being Timo Werner on a season-long loan.

But that is not to say Spurs don’t have their targets this summer with Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher being reported as one of the player’s Postecoglou is seriously keen on.

However, a move for the England international is expected to be a difficult one to pull off with Gallagher keen to remain at his boyhood club.

With concerns over the Blues potentially giving in and providing Gallagher with a new deal, Daniel Levy and co are said to have other options on their radar this summer.

Tottenham eyeing midfielder who lit up Europa League final

Going into the new campaign, Spurs are going to have a lot more games to play than they did last season where no European football was on the menu.

Postecoglou secured a fifth-placed finish in his first Premier League season which means Europa League football will return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

With a new formatted competition, Spurs should view the Europa League as a real opportunity to get their hand on some silverware next season with no Champions League clubs dropping into it at the knockout stages.

Which is perhaps why Tottenham now have their eyes on a player who really impressed in this year’s Europa League final.

According to club insider Paul O Keefe, Spurs have Atalanta midfielder Ederson on their radar this summer.

“He’s on their list of potentials with the other guy at Everton [Amadou Onana],” O Keefe told the Last Word on Spurs.

“And I like him, I’ve taken a look at him and I’d take him over Gallagher all day.”

Tottenham could land real coup in Ederson

The Brazilian midfielder has seriously impressed for Atalanta last season and would cost Spurs in the region of £43m this summer.

His display in the Europa League final against the undefeated Bayer Leverkusen was a performance which certainly will have caught the eyes of many.

  • 90 minutes played
  • 2/2 dribbles
  • 2 tackles
  • 2 clearances
  • 2 interceptions
  • 2/2 aerial duels

That is the makings of a midfielder who could certainly improve the Spurs midfield this summer after a shaky season from Yves Bissouma.

But it will definitely be reassuring for fans to hear that Spurs do also have their eyes on other players than just Gallagher this summer.
