England fans all saying the same thing about £22m Crystal Palace player after 1-1 Denmark draw

England fans are all saying the same thing about a Crystal Palace player after Thursday’s disappointing 1-1 draw against Denmark in Group C.

Gareth Southgate watched his side take an early lead in the 18th minute thanks to Harry Kane – before the Three Lions then inexplicably sat back and invited the Danes to attack.

Denmark gleefully accepted, and found an equaliser in the 34th minute thanks to an outstanding strike from Morten Hjulmand – England then failed miserably at finding a route back into the Group C clash.

As the Three Lions stuttered in Germany, England fans all said the same thing about Crystal Palace No.20 Adam Wharton

What England fans are saying about Adam Wharton

The £22m man did not even feature against Denmark, nor did he play in last Sunday’s 1-0 win over Serbia.

Nevertheless, England fans are calling on Southgate to use Wharton, feeling that the Three Lions lack the control he brings in the middle of the park.

For the want of avoiding bias, no Crystal Palace supporters feature in this article.

This England fan – an Arsenal supporter – boldly wrote that Wharton is “the only one” who can control a game of football in Southgate’s squad, which is quite the claim for a player with just one cap under his belt, although we do understand the sentiment.

Elsewhere, another England fan expressed their bemusement that the 20-year-old hasn’t been used in either Group C clash so far, and questioned why Southgate even took the Blackburn-born maestro to Germany if he didn’t plan on fielding him.

Furthermore, a third England fan suggested that Declan Rice looks lost, the use of Trent Alexander-Arnold in midfield simply hasn’t worked, and also accused Conor Gallagher of being “poor” when called upon, concluding that it is now “time to try” Wharton out.

We can’t argue with that.

The theme continues.

This fan paid reference to Southgate saying England miss Kalvin Phillips in his post match interview, arguing that the 53-year-old cannot really make such a complaint when he has Wharton, and also Manchester United No.37 Kobbie Mainoo, gathering “dust” on the bench.

This Blackburn fan echoed that sentiment – bolding stating that Wharton is 100 times the player Phillips ever was.

Last but not least, a Liverpool fan simply said they are “all in” on getting Wharton involved after Thursday’s 1-1 draw against Denmark, which suggests they have well and truly seen enough of Southgate’s current midfield setup.

Time for the Crystal Palace No.20 to get a chance

At the risk of sounding biased, we feel Southgate has to at least give Wharton a chance from the bench now – if not a start, even.

The England international set a new record for completing 100% of his passes on his debut for the Three Lions recently, something nobody else has ever achieved.

Wharton’s incredible composure and direct passing style is exactly what this passive England side need right now, so hopefully, he receives an opportunity against Slovenia.
