Danny Rohl must show some more faith in 'special' Sheffield Wednesday star in 2024/25 - opinion

Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl must give the young attacker the game time he deserves next season.

Sheffield Wednesday have not shied away from making transfer dealings early on this summer, with the signing of Yan Valery taking the tally to three arrivals in S6.

Danny Rohl has most certainly played a massive part in players committing their future to Hillsborough for the 2024/25 season, with Barry Bannan and Liam Palmer following the German boss in committing to the club.

The Owls miraculously stayed up last season after three consecutive wins in their last three matches of the 2023/24 season.

Rohl has been pivotal since his appointment in turning around the club and getting the best out of the squad he was dealt with, including handing some game time to a Sheffield Wednesday youngster that could revolutionise their attacking front if given the time.

Danny Rohl must utilise Bailey Cadamarteri next season

When he took over the role, it didn’t take long for Rohl to hand Bailey Cadamarteri his first appearances for the Owls.

His first goal for Wednesday came in just their second win of the season, as they beat Blackburn Rovers at home. He followed this up with a further two goals in his next three.

During this stint, Cadamarteri showed that he had the natural goalscoring quality to compete in the Championship.

The German boss was full of praise for Cadamarteri last season, admitting that he saw ‘special things’ from the 18-year-old.

Towards the end of the season, Cadamarteri struggled to get his place in the squad, appearing just six times in the Owls’ last 14 matches.

Can Bailey Cadamarteri lead the line at Sheffield Wednesday

The 2005-born striker scored some crucial goals for Sheffield Wednesday in the last campaign, including an 86th minute equaliser against QPR, before Anthony Musaba won it in the dying minutes.

Goalscoring aside, the striker already has the pace to run in-behind the defence and cause serious issues, particularly against a slower backline.

At 19-years-old, he could develop into a serious player for Wednesday, especially under Rohl.

Any guarantee to game time could also lure Cadamarteri away from any potential interested clubs, with Premier League sides keeping tabs on the young forward.

He is far from the finished product, but you can only get so close to that without the necessary game time.

Cadamarteri is way too good to drop down the leagues in a loan move, so must be utilised by Rohl, the manager who has already proven that he can get the best out of the youngster.
