'He is a great kid': Ange Postecoglou so impressed by how brave Tottenham youngster is on the ball

Ange Postecoglou has lauded one Tottenham Hotspur youngster and insisted that he is actually a very brave player in possession of the ball.

There are not many players within the Spurs squad who have not improved under Ange Postecoglou, with the Australian leading the club to a fifth place finish in his first season in the Premier League.

Tottenham have a group of young players who boast enormous potential, including some who Spurs fans have not had the chance to see too much of over the last few months.

Signing Radu Dragusin looked to be a coup for Tottenham in the January transfer window, with the Romanian performing so impressively for Genoa in the months before his move.

He joined at a time when Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven had established themselves as such an promising partnership; one which could perhaps develop into one of the very best in the Premier League.

Some were still surprised that Dragusin did not play more following his move to Tottenham, but that makes his appearances at Euro 2024 all the more exciting for Spurs fans.

He impressed in the opening win over Ukraine. And speaking on ITV ahead of Romania’s clash with Belgium on Saturday (broadcast on 22/6; 19:22), Postecoglou outlined how impressed he has been by the defender.

“He is a super kid and he really wants to learn. He actually went to Juventus at a very young age, so he has been schooled in Italian defending. He is a defender who loves defending,” he said.

“He is a brave passer as well, he is sort of adding that to his game. He is only 22, but he is a great kid and I am super happy that we have got him at Spurs.”

What some may already forget about

Tottenham are yet to be vindicated for their decision to sign Dragusin in the January transfer window, but you get the sense that he will get plenty of chances in the months and years ahead.

It is perhaps easy to forget how dramatic the hours before Dragusin signed actually were, with Bayern Munich believing that they were about to hijack the move for Dragusin.

That provides a further indication that he is someone with a huge future ahead of him if he realises his potential, particularly when Postecoglou is clearly such a big admirer of his game.
