Bizarre new report says Leeds willing to sell player for bargain fee with Tottenham interested

A new report has suggested that Leeds United are now willing to sell Archie Gray for a cut-price fee with both Tottenham and Manchester City interested in doing a deal.

Gray has emerged as one of the club’s best players over the last 12 months after being handed his senior debut by Daniel Farke on the opening day of the 2023-24 Championship season, a draw against Cardiff.

Able to play as a right-back or in central midfield, Gray grew with every minute in the Leeds side and at just 18 he was always going to attract suitors. He has a contract at Elland Road until the summer of 2028.

Many Premier League clubs have been linked over the last few months with a move, while reports suggest that it would take a “mammoth” offer to sell him. Paraag Marathe didn’t close the door on a possible sale.

Bizarre report shares fee Leeds will sell Gray for this summer

Marathe made it clear that the club will have to sell players having inherited a huge credit card bill from Andrea Radrizzani, when The 49ers took over from the Italian who now owns Serie B club Sampdoria.

Now, a new report indicates Leeds are willing to cash in on the England U21 wonderkid which in itself will come as a surprise. But the most surprising bit about the report is just how much Leeds will sell him for.

The Sun (23/06, p56) reports that Leeds will sell Gray for just £20m. A bargain figure, and much smaller than the figures that have been previously touted for the Thorp Arch academy in the last few weeks.

It simply has to be wrong, £20m is half of Gray’s actual value

It is reported that Tottenham and Man City want Gray at that price before the deadline this summer, but even at a bargain £20m, Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund have been priced out of a move.

But the report must be wrong. Leeds should be absolutely desperate to keep Gray and do everything in their power to keep hold of the talented teenager, at least for another season in The Championship.

To even consider offers of £20m would be foolish. Leeds have only got to be interested in a possible sale if offers of £40m or north arrive and even then, The Whites will annoy the entire fanbase by cashing in.
