Report: Two more clubs join race for wantaway £80k-a-week Wolves man, including newly promoted side

Two more clubs have reportedly registered their interest in Wolves striker Fabio Silva, as the club look to offload him.

Wolves are thought to be ready to sell Silva, four years after signing him for a whopping £35 million from FC Porto.

Silva came in despite very little experience of first-team football at Porto. He recently admitted that he never really wanted to make the move and was pushed into it.

The 21-year-old also said that it is now no secret that he wants to leave.

So Wolves are currently trying to ship him out.

Recently, the player’s agent suggested that two Italian clubs, Bologna and Fiorentina, were keen on landing the Portugal U21 international.

Now, a couple more clubs have joined the race.

It has been reported by O Jogo that two Spanish clubs have now registered their interest in Silva.

They are Sevilla, who had a disappointing 2023/24 in La Liga, and Real Valladolid, who came runners-up in the second division and therefore achieved promotion.

Silva’s agent Carlos Oliveira recently suggested that Spain or Italy would be his client’s next move. He told TMW: “I think it’s a great championship for him, we’re prioritising the Spanish and Italian markets for next season. I think one of the two championships will be the next step for Fabio.”

It has previously been claimed that wolves would be looking for around £20 million to sell.

The majority of Wolves fans would say that even this would be too high an asking price, given Silva’s struggles over the last four years.

That said, the more clubs that show interest in Silva, the more likely it is that a bidding war will break out, which would be the absolute ideal scenario for Wolves.

Good news for Wolves

So that is at least four clubs reported to be keen on Silva this summer and hopefully, the club can play them all off against each other.

Molineux officials need to expect to take a big hit on £80,000-a-week man Silva, as he simply has not delivered. Aside from a decent couple of spells at Anderlecht and PSV Eindhoven, Silva just hasn’t been able to show enough on British soil.

But perhaps his game would be more suited to the Spanish or Italian top-flight.

There is a player in there, but it is clear he has been in the wrong environment for the kind of game he has.

Hopefully, Wolves can recoup as much as possible from a sale, and Silva can get his kickstart his career elsewhere.
