Darren Ambrose says Tottenham have opportunity to sign a ‘sensational’ Premier League player

It’s been a fairly quiet start to the summer transfer window for Tottenham Hotspur in terms of incomings.

Plenty of progress has been made when it comes to departures, with Tanguy Ndombele the latest to head out the door after his contract was mutually terminated.

Ange Postecoglou has already stated that he’s keen for Tottenham to go about their business as early as possible this summer.

A new striker is expected to be a priority for the Aussie boss but Spurs also need reinforcements in the middle of the park.

Eberechi Eze has emerged as a top target for Tottenham and Postecoglou has reportedly approved the signing.

The Crystal Palace star is currently at Euro 2024 with England but is attracting plenty of interest from top Premier League sides, including Manchester City.

And Darren Ambrose believes Spurs have an opportunity to land the Palace man this summer.

Eze reportedly has a £60 million release clause in his contract at Selhurst Park, meaning he certainly won’t come cheap for Spurs.

Michael Olise also looks set to leave Palace and join Bayern Munich, which would leave Tottenham’s London rivals in no mood to negotiate over that release clause.

But Ambrose is convinced that Tottenham have a real chance at landing the England star over the coming months.

“Another one, Eze,” the former Crystal Palace man told talkSPORT. “I know I am associated with Palace, but there’s an opportunity to get him at Spurs. Sensational.”

Where Eze would fit in at Tottenham

Given his obvious qualities on the ball, Eze would be a good fit for Postecoglou’s side and would add extra firepower in a couple of positions.

The Eagles star has mainly operated in an attacking midfield role for Palace of late but is equally as effective off the left-hand side.

Eze would tick a couple of boxes for Postecoglou as a player who’d provide stern competition for James Maddison as well as a spot out wide.

Whether or not Spurs are willing to pay Eze’s release remains to be seen but it’s obvious there is long-standing interest and this will be a deal to keep an eye on over the coming weeks.
