How Palace feel about Michael Olise decision and what Dougie Freedman plans to do with £55m fee - journalist

Crystal Palace’s thoughts on Michael Olise choosing to join Bayern Munich have now emerged – as well as what Dougie Freedman plans to do with the money.

It was revealed last week that the France U21 international had decided to join the German giants – who have triggered his £55m release clause, leaving Crystal Palace with no option but to sell.

Now, respected journalist Alan Nixon has shared what Crystal Palace plan to do with the Michael Olise money – and how those at Selhurst Park are feeling after the bombshell news…

Crystal Palace shocked by Michael Olise decision

Nixon claims that those inside Selhurst Park have been left “stunned” by the 22-year-old’s decision to team up with Vincent Kompany at the Allianz Arena.

Crystal Palace put a new contract on the table for Olise to consider amid interest from Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Newcastle – although he felt a move to Bavaria was best for his development.

Freedman is now believed to be accelerating the search for a replacement, and actually plans to spend the £55m fee on two new players rather than one.

Nixon states that the Glaswegian is searching for an “adaptable” forward to replace Olise, somebody who can operate in several positions across the frontline, with Marseille No.29 Iliman Ndiaye high on the list.

However, Crystal Palace do not want to get involved in any bidding wars, as clubs are now aware of the £55m burning a hole in Steve Parish’s pocket.

Iliman Ndiaye interest suggests Oliver Glasner might not even want a natural replacement

Interest in Ndiaye – who mainly operates in a central role, making 16 appearances there last season – could suggest that Oliver Glasner doesn’t even want a direct replacement, who cuts inside from the right flank on their left foot like Olise.

The Austrian’s most effective team so far in his managerial career – his 2022 UEFA Europa League winning Eintracht Frankfurt side – did not even include natural wingers, but instead central attacking midfielders, with wing-backs providing the width.

Therefore, as Daichi Kamada prepares to join – a man who thrived in a central attacking role under Glasner in Germany – and Freedman eyes Ndiaye, it is starting to feel like Daniel Munoz could actually be tasked with being the main outlet down that right wing next season.

Whatever happens, we trust Glasner and Freedman to get it spot on…
