£30m player linked with Chelsea is very likely to leave his club this summer - Fabrizio Romano

Chelsea may find it very easy to sign one of their targets this summer.

The Blues remain in the market as they look to bring in a new striker to help out Nicolas Jackson.

Chelsea relied heavily on Jackson last term, with the 23-year-old making 44 appearances in his first season in England.

The club had been linked with Atletico Madrid’s Samu Omorodion and Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran.

However, things have gone quiet there. In fact, it was claimed over the weekend that Chelsea have now cooled their interest in the former.

Chelsea should find potential pursuit for alternative much easier

Chelsea do seem to have alternatives to Omorodion and Duran.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has been speaking about the future of one of them.

The Blues are said to be interested in Lille’s Jonathan David, and Romano thinks there is a very good chance of him leaving the Ligue 1 club this summer.

Speaking to CaughtOffside, he said: “He has one year left on his contract and Lille want to make a profit. The player wants to try a different experience, so there is a good opportunity.

“I think [there’s] a 90% chance to see Jonathan David leaving Lille. But at the moment, I’m not aware of anything advanced club-to-club between Chelsea and Lille.”

According to HITC, the 24-year-old could be sold for just £30m.

Chelsea more likely to sign Jonathan David than Ivan Toney

Another centre-forward who Chelsea have been heavily linked with is Brentford’s Ivan Toney.

However, a move for him does not seem to be on the table.

Toney is now 28 so does not really fit Chelsea’s transfer strategy. And while the Blues may have had him on their radar at one point, it has been reported that they no longer have an interest in him.

It makes David, who is four years younger than the England international, a more likely option.

The fact that he could cost just £30m as well makes you believe that this deal could actually get done in this transfer window.
