'I would love': Declan Rice really wants Arsenal to sign £50m England player this summer

Declan Rice has admitted in a recent interview that he’d love Arsenal to sign a player from England’s Euro 2024 squad.

The Three Lions squad is overflowing with talent and they’re among the favourites to win the European Championships in Germany this summer.

Though, despite being top of their group, they’ve not had the greatest start to the tournament by their own admission, having narrowly scraped a draw against Denmark last time out.

Gareth Southgate is expected to make one change this evening and the player coming in is who Rice would like to have at Arsenal.

Declan Rice would love Conor Gallagher at Arsenal

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, who is a rumoured £50m target of Tottenham Hotspur, is expected to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold in the starting 11 against Slovenia this evening.

Ahead of kick-off, Rice has given a glowing report of his England teammate and suggested he’d love to have him at Arsenal.

“I’ve played against him when he was at Crystal Palace and Chelsea, and I’ve played with him in the academy team,” The Gunners midfielder told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“He is player I would love to have in my team. He works his socks off. You feel so safe and secure in there with him. He has surprised so many people this year with his ability on the ball. How he breaks forward with it, how he gets into the box and scores goals.”

Conor Gallagher fits Mikel Arteta’s system

Mikel Arteta is keen on having energy in his midfield and Gallagher is exactly that, so he’s certainly a player who they might potentially look at.

Though, it remains to be seen if Chelsea will entertain a move to their rivals, especially with their ambitions to return to the Champions League.

A move for Mikel Merino looks far more likely for Arsenal this summer and Arteta has already phoned him to try and get him to sign.
