Sky journalist says 'lethal' striker has now told his club he's leaving this summer, as Arsenal push to sign him

Arsenal are likely to be busy in the summer transfer window as Edu and Mikel Arteta look to bolster their ranks.

The Gunners have made significant progress under Arteta over the past few years and will be eager to continue building a squad that can win major trophies.

A striker is likely to be near the top of Arsenal’s transfer agenda. The Premier League club currently doesn’t have an out-and-out No. 9 in its ranks.

Now, a report has emerged from Sky Sports claiming a ‘lethal’ striker on Arsenal’s radar has now told his club he’s planning to leave this summer.

Arsenal target Serhou Guirassy plans to leave Stuttgart this summer

The player in question is Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy, one of the most prolific strikers in Europe last season.

Sky Sport Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has reported that the 28-year-old has now made his intentions clear to his club.

For context, Guirassy’s contract is reported to have a €20million release clause, which works out at around £17million.

As a result, the reported Arsenal target’s club is now looking at Borussia Dortmund’s Niclas Fullkrug as a replacement.

“Dortmund are pushing hard to sign Serhou Guirassy, who has informed Stuttgart in the last couple of hours that he will 100 percent leave the club,” Plettenberg wrote on Sky Sports.

“Now it’s a battle between Dortmund and Arsenal for his services. AC Milan also have a chance for Guirassy.”

Arsenal’s bitter rivals Tottenham have also been linked with a move for the Guinea international.

Arsenal will fancy their chances of signing Guirassy

As a Premier League title challenger with Champions League football on the horizon, Arsenal will certainly fancy their chances of signing Guirassy.

Although Stuttgart are also in the Champions League, the Gunners will no doubt be able to offer a head-turning salary to the player, whose desire to leave seems apparent now.

Guirassy enjoyed a phenomenal season for Stuttgart last term, netting 28 league goals in 28 outings and helping his side to a runner-up finish behind Bayer Leverkusen.

The Analyst described him last season as the ‘most lethal striker in Europe’ as he went on to score more than the likes of Cole Palmer.

Guirassy certainly sounds like a good shout to bang the goals in for Arsenal next term.
