Sheffield Wednesday will face rivals Sheffield United in the 2024/25 Championship campaign, as the Steel City derby returns for the first time in five years.
Sheffield Wednesday won their final three games of the 2023/24 Championship campaign to finish in 20th place of the table and beat the drop in spectacular fashion.
Sheffield United meanwhile finished in last place of the Premier League table, racking up just 16 points; the joint third-lowest points tally in Premier League history.
It means that the two Steel City teams will meet in the Championship next season and face each other for the first time since March 2019.
When do Sheffield Wednesday play Sheffield United in the 2024/25 season
Sheffield Wednesday travel to Bramall Lane on Saturday 9th November, whilst Sheffield United travel to Hillsborough on March 15th.
Both however are subject to change for television purposes.

Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United have long had a fierce rivalry. And it’s an historic rivalry too, with the first clash between the Steel City teams dating back to 1891 in the Wharncliffe Charity Cup.

Coming down from the Premier League and likely to undergo drastic changes in playing personnel this summer, Sheffield United will inevitably be one of the promotion favourites next season.
But after Sheffield Wednesday’s miraculous turnaround under Danny Rohl, followed by a positive start to the summer transfer window, many might back the Owls to surprise a few next season.
The form table from the last 25 games of the 2023/24 Championship campaign had Sheffield Wednesday placed in 8th.
If the Owls can bolster their ranks with some quality and replace their outgoing stars, then logic dictates that Wednesday could be top six contenders next time round.
