Crystal Palace have just seen a bid rejected for £20m talent - Journalist

Crystal Palace will be able to spend a little more freely this summer and now an update has been provided on the Jobe Bellingham pursuit.

This summer is likely to be the biggest shift that Selhurst Park has seen in years, and the sale of Michael Olise will only further this.

With Olise set to join Bayern Munich for a reported fee of around £55 million, the funds from that are likely to be used on the squad with plenty of work for Dougie Freedman to do.

The arrivals of Chadi Riad and Daichi Kamada have already been completed, although Kamada will be announced upon his contract expiring in July.

Now, there’s been an update on how the Eagles plan to spend the money this summer, with a bid for one target already being rejected.

Jobe Bellingham to Crystal Palace latest

With a bolstered budget, Palace could look to sign more players than first thought and it appears that despite concerns over his readiness, the Eagles are progressing with plans to bring Jobe Bellingham to Selhurst Park.

Ed Aarons now explains that Sunderland have actually already turned down several bids for the talent this summer, including one from the Eagles. Sunderland are said to be determined to retain him for next season and will only enter discussions to sell for a fee in excess of £20m.

After this, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the pursuit of the 18-year-old midfielder. He explains that Palace are still working on a deal to sign Bellingham this summer and he is among the main targets for Freedman.

He then adds that Bellingham’s future depends on the player with many clubs keen, but Palace are trying to convince him.

This showcases that Bellingham is a clear priority for Palace this summer and with talks continuing beyond the first rejected offer a second can likely be expected.

Palace can buy Antonio Nusa and Bellingham with Michael Olise fee

From the sounds of things, the desire to sign Bellingham is completely unrelated to any other deal this summer and could happen regardless of other deals.

This is what Romano implied as he also added that Antonio Nusa is also among the priorities for Palace.

Based on the reported fees, the club could end up with both Bellingham and Nusa for around £45m combined – with Nusa being valued at around £25m – which is a terrific deal for two potential world beaters.

Losing Olise isn’t the outcome anyone wanted, but to get two top players into the squad is making the best of a bad situation, hopefully, these two deals can be done.
