Report: Nottingham Forest want to sign British midfielder tipped to emulate Jude Bellingham

Nottingham Forest will look to add a number of players to their ranks this summer as they prepare for another Premier League campaign.

The Reds are hoping to offload a number of players too as they aim to comply with the latest PSR cycle and avoid a points deduction.

Naturally, it’s the incoming links that will get the juices going among the fan base – and today another player has been touted with a move to Forest.

The Reds added 13 players to their ranks last summer and it does feel as though there will be emphasis placed on quality over quantity this summer.

Now, a burgeoning young talent appears to be on the radar and if it comes to fruition it could be an exciting addition.

Nottingham Forest want midfielder tipped to emulate Jude Bellingham

According to The Telegraph, Forest are now closely monitoring Birmingham City midfielder Jordan James.

The player has been linked with a number of clubs previously, with some of them overseas such as Serie A outfit Atalanta.

The 19-year-old central midfielder has come through the ranks at Birmingham but their chances of keeping him are now very slim.

James made 47 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring eight goals as the Blues were relegated from the Championship.

Furthermore, James is a full Wales international and has collected 11 caps for his country under Rob Page.

The now departed Wales boss lauded James for his efforts after a 2-0 win over Latvia in September, with Page tipping him to emulate England star Jude Bellingham.

James is a star of the future but Forest will have to be quick

It’s fair to say that the centre of midfield was unlikely to be the first area of the pitch where any fan would suggest Forest need reinforcements.

The Reds have Danilo, Ryan Yates, Nicolas Dominguez and Ibrahim Sangare all competing for places in that department.

However, this is a signing that should excite the Forest fan base.

James, 19, is a star of the future and he has the potential to go all the way to the top with the decision over his next club likely to be an important one.

Birmingham are stuck in a bit of a difficult situation at the moment too.

James only has a year remaining on his existing deal and although they hold the option of another year, their League One status could count against them.

What type of player is Jordan James?

As a central midfielder, it would appear as though James is more of an attack-minded sort of player.

He made nine appearances through the middle as a number 10 last season and made another nine playing out wide.

James can also cope with the defensive side of things, however, and would be comfortable in a 4-2-3-1 system.

Who Scored shows that his strengths are finishing, ball interception and tackling.

In terms of a style of play, they claim he likes to play long balls, plays balls off the ground frequently and likes to shoot from distance.

Right now, there are no real weaknesses of note and James looks like the type of signing that most Forest supporters could get behind.
