Report: Premier League club may still submit bid to sign 'special' Newcastle talent this summer

A top Premier League club could still make an offer for a Newcastle player this summer, according to a recent report.

The Magpies have had to bat off interest in a number of their players this summer, with Alexander Isak one of the latest in that notion.

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have both made approaches in recent days but have been made aware that he is not for sale.

Fabian Schar has been mooted with a departure recently and now another Newcastle player is continuing to be linked away, despite his release clause expiring.

Manchester City could still bid for Bruno Guimaraes

According to GiveMeSport, Manchester City could still submit a bid for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes despite his £100m release clause expiring.

The Citizens decided against activating his clause as they seemed to remain hopeful of landing his signature for less.

Whether an offer arrives in the coming days remains to be seen but there has been no suggestion that Guimaraes would even want to leave St James Park.

And from Newcastle’s perspective, they now hold the cards in negotiations and will likely reject any forthcoming bid.

City are expected to make a move for Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich as an alternative target.

Newcastle want to build

TBR exclusively reported last month that Anthony Gordon, Isak and Guimaraes are all assets which they’re confident of keeping at the club this summer.

Nothing has changed on that front despite pressure to sell before the end of June – when the financial year ends.

Instead, the club are hoping to complete the sale of Yankuba Minteh for £40m, allowing their key figures to remain on Tyneside.

So, evidently, Newcastle are keen to build rather than to trade their best players.
