Report: Tottenham considering making second bid for player tipped to become the next James Maddison

Tottenham Hotspur are weighing up another offer for a highly-rated Premier League star, according to a recent report.

The North Londoners are in the market for reinforcements this window as Ange Postecoglou looks to assemble a squad capable of returning to the illustrious Champions League.

A striker is very much on the agenda, with Jonathan David the latest player of interest along with Ivan Toney and Santiago Gimenez.

Though, at the moment it seems a midfield addition is being worked on, with a second bid potentially being readied for a Premier League player.

Tottenham consider second bid for Jacob Ramsey

According to the Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur are considering a second bid for Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey.

Their initial proposal worth £20m plus Giovani Lo Celso was rejected by the Villans but Spurs have not given up hope of landing the 23-year-old, who has been tipped to become the next James Maddison, as per Football FanCast.

Ramsey is viewed as the ideal midfield target for the North Londoners as he’d help to improve their homegrown quota – which needs to be addressed ahead of their Europa League campaign.

Villa are thought to be one of the six Premier League clubs under pressure to sell before the end of June – when the financial year ends, so this deal could move quickly.

The stumbling block at this stage is Villa’s asking price, which is thought to be in the region of £40-50m.

Jacob Ramsey’s injury worries

Ramsey had an injury-hit season last term, making just 16 Premier League appearances and he’s thought to be carrying a toe injury at the moment.

Whilst his injury record certainly isn’t a deal breaker by any means, it’s still something worth to consider, particularly if the club are to outlay a substantial amount on his transfer fee.

Ramsey should be back fit for pre-season, so there is no concern about his availability at this stage.
